How do I put these Vintage honeycomb patio lights together?

I cracked one trying to stuff the bulb into one side. It doesnt fit. THese are the honecomb coloured patio lites from the 70s. I see there is one tiny hole at the the top and the bottom is much more open. I can’t stick anything through the hole on top and the bulb won’t even fit in the bottom.
