I don’t know what they’re made of. They’re not glass. They’re painted a pale blue. I think they’re like 30-40 years old or something. They’ve been in her basement storage room for a long time and have a lot of dust. I’m going to put them in my room but want to clean them first. Should I use all purpose spray and a cloth?

I have a steel tapered column, 12 feet high that will have an old antique farm bell on top. These bells were used in the 1800 to call for help from the neighbors.

Anyway, when I put in the base, I also laid in a conduit with a 12/2 romex w/ground, so I could put on the column a wall mount porch light to be used as a post lamp. Now, I am ready to drill the hole in the front side of the column to mount the light. How high from the sidewalk to the house, should the light be on the column?
Let’s not get complicated. I live out in the country. I bought an old farm so I could fly my R/C models. I also am a retired home builder, improver, DIY person, etc.

I just forgot what the standard height from the sidewalk to the light is suppose to be.

My aunt is so fond of collecting this type of lighting — what you call an antique. She has this particular antique floor lamp that is perfect for decoration. Do you find this type of light great for your home? What’s your opinion?
